This bipartisan bill was incorporated into the larger Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Reauthorization Act, which passed the House unanimously, by a voice vote. Currently, the standards that define how wireless coverage is determined are not sufficient, meaning that coverage maps can be incomplete or inaccurate. Without accurate coverage maps, resources needed to improve wireless access will not be directed to the areas that need the most help, including rural areas. Loebsacks legislation will help make sure maps are accurate so that resources to improve wireless voice and mobile Internet services go to the areas that need it the most.CLICK HERE for video of Loebsack speaking on the House floor about his bill.Everyone at some point has been driving through places in rural America that dont get wireless coverage. Unfortunately, the maps that the FCC uses to try fix coverage gaps are often inadequate, said Loebsack. We cannot invest in wireless access without first understanding the problem. That is why I am pleased my bill was passed by the House so we can improve wireless voice and mobile Internet services and ensure resources go to the areas that need it the most, including rural communities.A significant digital divide remains between urban and rural America. Congressman Loebsack is a leader in working to close this divide by promoting broadband deployment throughout rural America. Loebsack serves on the Communications and Technology subcommittee of the Energy and Commerce Committee, which has jurisdiction over telecommunications issues. He also serves as a co-chair of the Rural Broadband Caucus. 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
