Billy Long believes all children deserve the opportunity to grow up in a loving and stable family and is leading this effort with his Adoption Promotion Act. “I support policies which encourage adoption and promote stable families. Each year women all across our country find themselves facing a decision about whether to carry their unborn child to term and how to provide for that child once the child has been born. We owe it to women in our nation, especially to those who are most vulnerable to make sure that they are truly receiving the information they need about all their options for their child. Women and their children deserve our support to help them find a chance at life, love, and an opportunity for a great future and that is what my legislation promotes,” Long said. Long’s Adoption Promotion Act, H.R. 3539, would ensure that all women who access family planning services provided with Title X funding are given pregnancy options counseling which includes professional adoption counseling. When a woman feels she is unable to care for her child, for whatever reason, it is vital that she knows she still has an option to provide her child with life and a good, loving future through adoption.
