Billy Long issued the following statement after voting yes on the cromnibus spending bill, which reins in the EPA, IRS and funds the Department of Homeland Security through February 2015: “I support the effort to rein in the EPA and the IRS. The regulations coming out of the EPA are a threat to jobs and a growing economy. This budget agreement cuts $60 million from the EPA, which translates into a 21 percent reduction since Fiscal Year 2010. This agreement also prohibits this job killing agency from regulating farm ponds and irrigation ditches. “The Obama administration was caught trying to use the IRS to silence its opponents. This budget agreement cuts this agency by $345.6 million, which is below Fiscal Year 2008 funding levels. The IRS is prohibited by this agreement from targeting organizations based on their beliefs or for exercising their First Amendment rights. “The House will finally have a partner next year in the Senate. I look forward to both chambers taking action to rein in this overreaching executive’s actions on immigration.
