The houses in our communities are decorated with twinkling lights, children are anxiously awaiting Santa Clauss arrival, and cookies are being baked and decorated for various exchanges. The spirit of the season is in full swing, and we have much to be thankful for. share: f t The holiday season is my favorite time of year. The houses in our communities are decorated with twinkling lights, children are anxiously awaiting Santa Clauss arrival, and cookies are being baked and decorated for various exchanges. The spirit of the season is in full swing, and we have much to be thankful for. It is my sincerest wish that we can all live the true message of Christmas: the message of peace and goodwill. I am always amazed by the generosity of Missourians who are quick to step up for those who need a little help, particularly all of the support charitable organizations receive during the holiday season. From the Christmas day dinners at local shelters to the Angel Trees at the local mall that provides gifts for children, Missourians know the spirit of Christmas. As we plan our Christmas and New Years celebrations with family and friends, please say a special prayer for our brave men and women in uniform who are sacrificing their lives and time with loved ones at Christmas to keep us safe. While many of us worry about weather delaying our relatives trip home by a few hours, these families must live Christmas day, and every day, knowing their loved ones may never come home at all. Their selflessness and love for our country serves as the purest embodiment of the Christmas spirit and sets an example for the rest of us. I hope everyone has a few days to rest and unwind with loved ones and friends. I encourage you to take a moment and enjoy traditions you may have or create new ones with your children and family. Lastly, take a moment and remember the teachings that emphasize love, charity, and hope.
