The budget bill also includes the $2 million that Rep. Lujan Grisham secured for the Mentally Ill Offender Treatment and Crime Reduction Program. The Albuquerque Police Department recently received a grant under the program to pay for crisis intervention training. “New Mexico will benefit in many ways from this spending package, which is important as we work to create jobs and meet the needs of working families,” Rep. Lujan Grisham said. “In addition to critical funding for many services, I’m pleased that we avoided attempts to block funding for Planned Parenthood and critical climate change initiatives. “However, my biggest disappointment with the bill is the refusal to lift the ban on gun violence research,” Rep. Lujan Grisham said. “I will continue to support legislation that lifts this ban, and allows the Center for Disease Control to conduct this research.” The spending package and associated tax legislation also includes: Full funding for renewable energy programs, including the extension of wind and solar tax credits.
