The Sioux Falls and Flandreau-based 1742nd is returning from a nine-month deployment to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. The public is encouraged to attend. Gov. Dennis Daugaard, Congresswoman Kristi Noem, Flandreau Mayor Mark Bonrud and Maj. Gen. Tim Reisch, adjutant general of the SDNG, are planned speakers for the ceremony. The 1742nd's mission in Afghanistan was to provide medium transportation support and convoy security. They also provided retrograde support and augmented various supply and service functions.
