Congressman Nolan sat down with medical officials to learn more about medical helicopters that can bring patients quickly to level two trauma centers. These Life Link Three helicopters aren't just taxis but an intensive care unit that give prehospital services to emergency hospital providers like St. Luke's Hospital and St. Mary's Medical Center. Doctors say the care a patient receives within the first "Golden Hour" will give them a better chance at recovering from a heart attack, stroke or severe trauma. "From the moment the helicopter lands on scene or at a referring hospital we are able to start delivering excellent care to stop the bleeding to halt the injury process and to begin what we call the resuscitation," said Dr. Mark Monte, Surgeon at St. Luke's Hospital.
