House Speaker John Boehner lit the U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree, a white spruce from the Chippewa National Forest in Cass Lake, Minnesota, on Tuesday evening. The tree completed the 2,000-mile journey to arrive at the Capitol on Monday, stopping in 30 communities along the way. Minnesotans have handcrafted thousands of ornaments, which are used to decorate the tree. The tree will be lit from nightfall until 11 p.m. each evening through Jan. 1. Sen. Amy Klobuchar, Sen. Al Franken, and Congressman Rick Nolan attended the tree lighting ceremony, which took place on the West Front lawn of the Capitol. | 1 | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z |
