Rep. Rick Nolan and state Sen. Dave Tomassoni met privately with three former employees at an undisclosed location in Mt. Iron on Monday. They were there to talk about allegations the ex-employees are making that they were asked to backdate records, making wait times for veterans appear shorter. They say this went on until late April. Nolan said in a statement released after the meeting, "It takes courage to come forward. I assured (the former employees) I will share what we heard today with the VA Secretary, the Inspector General and with my colleagues. I will leave no stone unturned in getting to the bottom of this, and to making sure that all our veterans receive the excellent and timely care they have so valiantly earned.” Nolan, Sen. Al Franken, Sen. Amy Klobuchar and Rep. Tim Walz have all asked the VA Office of the Inspector General to look into the charges.
