Rick Nolan today voted to support a bill – the Howard Coble Coast Guard and Maritime Transportation Act – that will help the Coast Guard in Duluth continue its vital mission and support the Great Lakes domestic maritime economy. Among other provisions, the bill supports military pay raises for Coast Guard service members at a level consistent with service members of the other Armed Forces, which Nolan says will benefit the mission of the Coast Guard Cutter ALDER. The ALDER and its crew have a wide array of missions that benefit the Port of Duluth − including ice breaking, navigation, search and rescue, and law enforcement.
