Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, one of the Courts most caustic dissenters, nevertheless left his unique mark on the Court. I am far from alone in taking issue with his virtually dogmatic originalist views. Yet, our polarized Congressand countrycould learn much from Justice Scalias close and cordial relationships with his colleagues and they with him, notwithstanding the biting language of his decisions. Justice Scalias special relationship with Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg is, of course, most often cited. I did not know Justice Scalia, but I will never forget his good humor when both Justices Scalia and Ginsburg and I were among a small group invited to sit on stage as extras in a scene set in a caf during an opera, while the major performers sang their roles at the Kennedy Center. I express my condolences to Justice Scalias wife, Maureen, and his entire family. ### | 1 | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z |
