Norton, an Episcopalian who was christened at St. Georges Episcopal Church shortly after she was born in the District, was a member of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) during the height of the Civil Rights Movement and, as a student, worked with Bayard Rustin on the staff of the 1963 March on Washington. Each January when we come together to celebrate the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., his great issuesnon-violence, poverty amidst plenty, the universality of equal rightscontinue with the currency of today, Norton said. I am honored by the invitation of the Washington National Cathedral to serve as guest preacher for Sundays service. The service provides an opportunity to reflect on how Dr. Kings prophetic life continues to resonate in the great issues of our time. ### | 1 | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z |
