We have achieved remarkable progress treating and preventing HIV/AIDS in the now 28 years since World AIDS day was established. Still, there is much more to do. More than thirty-six million people worldwide live with HIV today, including an estimated 37,000 in New Jersey. “As difficult economic choices arise, let us remember that investing in medical research to find innovative ways to fight AIDS is an investment in our country’s future. We must also continue to provide the resources needed to expand access to treatments, as well as educate our communities on prevention and testing. On this day, we remember all those who have lost their lives to HIV/AIDS and recommit ourselves to taking the necessary steps to make an AIDS free generation a reality.” In October of this year, Congressman Pallone was pleased to announce $75 million in federal funding from the Department of Health and Human Services to New Jersey and the 6th Congressional District for medical care and support to individuals and families living with HIV/AIDS through the Ryan White Program.
