Bill Pascrell, Jr. (D-NJ-09) praised the U.S. Dept. of Education for awarding New Jersey $17,498,115 in federal funds as part of a Preschool Development Grant to support communities in providing high-quality preschool programs. The City of Clifton is slated to be one of only 19 districts in the state designated as high need communities to be served under this plan. "I applaud the Department of Education for this tremendous federal investment in the future of our children," said Rep. Pascrell, a former educator who now serves on the House Ways and Means and Budget Committees. "By fostering the education of our youngest students, we are setting the stage for continued success in their academic careers and beyond. "Federal investment in education is also vital to our future economic prosperity by preparing students for a 21st century workforce. At a time when New Jersey schools district are facing increasingly tight budgets, these federal funds provide some much needed relief and bring us one step closer to fulfilling our vision as a leader in educating our youth," concluded Pascrell.
