The legislation also tosses aside more than 100,000 public comments and stops a current environmental review of copper-sulfide mining. And, it would weaken the Antiquities Act, a conservation tool used on a bipartisan basis by 16 presidents since 1906 to protect our nation’s history. “The Boundary Waters is Minnesota’s Yellowstone, and as a national treasure, its waters need to be protected,” said Congressman Paulsen. “I want to make sure the Boundary Waters is preserved for future generations to enjoy without compromising standard environmental practices or its natural beauty.” Congressman Paulsen spoke on H.R. 3905 on the House floor, which can be seen here.
