Congressman Donald M. Payne, Jr. (NJ-10) and U.S. Senators Bob Menendez and Cory Booker (both D-N.J.) today announced $1,469,711 for community health centers in the City of Newark to expand primary care services. The funding is provided by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services through the Affordable Care Act. Community health centers are a vital source of timely, quality health care for disadvantaged New Jerseyans, said Congressman Payne, Jr. I am proud that this funding will help Newark to continue providing underserved families and individuals with the services and preventive care they need to live healthy, active lives. Community health centers are vital in ensuring every New Jerseyan, irrelevant of income level, has access to life-saving medical treatment and a good quality of life, said Sen. Menendez. As we continue to see the benefits of the Affordable Care Act across our state, I will keep fighting to make certain the critical work these health centers do every day can continue. As Mayor of Newark I stood committed to ensuring our community health centers had the necessary resources to provide families the quality health services they need regardless of income and I continue that fight in the Senate, said Sen. Booker. This federal grant will allow the City of Newark to continue providing invaluable healthcare services to residents who need it most while helping to improve health outcomes. ### 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
