Ms. Annalise Heyward, a senior at Ardrey Kell High School, received a prestigious appointment to the United States Naval Academy, where she will follow her great-grandfather, grandfather, father, and brother as a Midshipman. Being part of a Navy family of four generations, I am surrounded by the Navy, whether it is attending football games or seeing my dads Naval Officer Sword and Scabbard hanging on the wall, Ms. Heyward explained to Congressman Pittenger. It would be an absolute honor to be the first female in my family to attend the Naval Academy, graduate, and serve my country. Ms. Heyward is the daughter of Doreen and Alexander Heyward and lives in south Charlotte. What an amazing legacy, said Congressman Pittenger. America is blessed to have families like the Heywards who are committed to defending our freedom. We are proud of Annalise and congratulate her on this achievement. Earlier this month, Congressman Pittenger formally nominated 44 outstanding local students for appointments to West Point, U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Air Force Academy, and U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.
