First conceived in 2014 to help restore U.S.-European relations in the wake of NSA revelations, the forum has grown into a major biannual gathering where legislators from around the world discuss collaborative efforts to defeat radical Islamist terrorism, intercept terrorism financing, confront cyber threats, and other relevant Intelligence and Security issues. Speakers for the December 7th forum include House Speaker Paul Ryan, Chairman Jeb Hensarling (Financial Services), Chairman Bob Goodlatte (Judiciary), House Republican Whip Steve Scalise, Senator Joni Ernst (R-IA), Secretary Michael Chertoff (former, Homeland Security), Jamal El-Hindi (Acting Director, U.S. Treasury’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network), Juan Felix Marteau (Argentina’s national coordinator for combating terrorist financing), members of the U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission, and several key experts from the private sector. This is the sixth Parliamentary Intelligence-Security Forum organized and hosted by Congressman Pittenger, following two previous forums in Washington, two forums in Vienna, and a recent regional forum in Buenos Aires. The forum is scheduled for Wednesday, December 7th, at the Library of Congress (Thomas Jefferson Building). Media is invited to observe the 4 p.m. panel discussion and 5 p.m. closing session.
