http://pittenger.house.gov/media-center/press-releases/pittenger-1-of-3-to-attend-congressional-hearing-in-gastonia Pittenger 1 of 3 to attend Congressional hearing in Gastonia 2013-11-22 2013 2013-11 Republican House NC Robert Pittenger P000606 pittenger.house.gov     legacy FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE   November 22, 2013     AWAY FROM THE NOISE:  CONGRESSMAN PITTENGER LEAVES WASHINGTON TO LISTEN TO CONCERNS OF ORDINARY AMERICANS   CHARLOTTE – Leaving the crowd of Washington pundits and activists behind, Congressman Robert Pittenger (NC-09) today traveled to Gastonia, N.C. to focus on the stories of ordinary Americans personally impacted by Obamacare.   Joined by Congressmen Darrell Issa (CA-49) and Patrick McHenry (NC-10) for a House Oversight and Government Reform Committee field hearing, Congressman Pittenger listened to the testimony of five witnesses, including a small business owner, the director of a non-profit, the CEO of a staffing agency, and an independent insurance agent.   “Today we heard firsthand the conflicts and challenges facing both individuals and businesses struggling with the momentous costs and compliance issues of Obamacare,” commented Congressman Pittenger following the hearing.  “We will take today’s concerns back to Congress and fight to make sure President Obama pays attention to the people of North Carolina.”   Congressman Pittenger is co-sponsor of the American Health Care Reform Act (H.R. 3121), a common-sense package of health care reforms that will lower costs, protect those with pre-existing conditions, and provide health insurance for the needy.  The American Health Care Reform Act does not include a government takeover of healthcare and allows Americans the freedom to choose the health insurance best suited to their individual needs.   ### 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
