http://pittenger.house.gov/media-center/press-releases/pittenger-106000-isnt-the-real-problem Pittenger: "106,000" isn't the real problem 2013-11-14 2013 2013-11 Republican House NC Robert Pittenger P000606 pittenger.house.gov     legacy FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE   November 13, 2013     CONGRESSMAN PITTENGER:  MORE AMERICANS LOSE EXISTING COVERAGE THAN SIGN UP FOR OBAMACARE   WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Robert Pittenger (NC-09) reviewed reports on the number of Americans able to purchase Obamacare during October and issued this statement:   “Many in Washington are focused on the fact that only 106,000 Americans purchased Obamacare during October.  Yet the number of Americans who lost their existing health insurance due to Obamacare is 3.5 million, 33 times greater than the number of Americans able to purchase new coverage.   “For hardworking American families, the real problem isn’t a clunky website, but broken promises from their Commander-in-Chief and a bloated, politically-motivated government takeover that is hurting the economy and their take-home pay.   “Sadly, more hardworking Americans lost their full-time jobs due to Obamacare than were able to sign up for coverage!  In June, 240,000 full-time American jobs were lost as employers scrambled to cut hours in an effort to avoid costly Obamacare mandates.  The United Food and Commercial Workers Union warns Obamacare is destroying the foundation of the 40-hour work week.   “The American people can’t afford Obamacare.  Now is the time for President Obama to stop playing political games and work with Republicans on common-sense solutions to lower health care costs, protect the vulnerable, and create desperately needed jobs.”   ### 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
