In recent years, the SEC has focused on highly-politicized rulemaking, including disclosures on political contributions, CEO pay ratios, and conflict minerals, while spending little time on protecting individual investors and facilitating the capital needed for small businesses and entrepreneurs to grow and create jobs. How do you relate your role in these issues? Congressman Pittenger (NC-09) asked Chair White. It seems to be a diversion, in terms of scope of mission. Is this an interest of yours?
