As Chairman of the Congressional Task Force on Terrorism and Unconventional Warfare, Congressman Pittenger traveled to Egypt for discussions with President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and top military leaders, Afghanistan for discussions with Afghan President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani and US/NATO/Afghan military commanders, and Saudi Arabia for discussions with government ministers and Saudi military leaders. Leaders in each country expressed concern over ISIS, but also raised the alarm about Irans serious threat to regional stability, including the threat of nuclear proliferation and Irans ongoing support of terrorist organizations. We must be united and vigilant, with clear objectives, as the world will respect and follow American leadership to intercept and destroy radical Islamist terrorists, said Congressman Pittenger. Clearly, President Obamas no strategy strategy is not working. The recent attacks in Paris, Nigeria, Mali, Egypt, and Lebanon demonstrate the American people deserve a coherent strategy from President Obama to effectively address the threat of terrorism. Two weeks before the Paris attacks, Congressman Pittenger hosted 100 Members of Parliament and other leaders from 25 European nations for a forum to address security vulnerabilities and the need for ongoing Intelligence collaboration on cyber security and terrorism financing. While in Afghanistan, Congressman Pittenger was honored to meet North Carolina military personnel during meals at Bagram Airfield and Kandahar Airfield. As the world faces hideous threats from ISIS, let us be thankful for the brave men and women who will spend Thanksgiving far from home, risking their lives to defend our freedom and way of life. We are proud of each soldier, sailor, airman, and Marine from North Carolina!
