Countering terror financing remains a strategic priority for this country. I believe it is one of the best avenues for defeating our enemies, said Congressman Pittenger shortly before Tuesdays vote. Our task force has accomplished significant work this year. We have identified many of the threats we face, and the sources of financing that they use. We still have much to do, and I am pleased Chairman Hensarling and this committee have brought the bipartisan task force back up for reauthorization. In 2015, the Task Force investigated links between organized crime and terrorists, uncovered the lack of information sharing between government agencies tasked with intercepting terrorist financing, evaluated security threats to the U.S. financial system, and examined how the Iran nuclear deal will impact terrorism financing.
