John Conyers Jr., D-Mich., who missed only one of 39 House Judiciary Committee hearings this session. “Only five other House members had rates as good as or better than Conyers:  Democrat Al Green of Texas and Republicans Andy Barr of Kentucky, Bill Huizenga of Michigan, Scott Garrett of New Jersey and Robert Pittenger of North Carolina. “Dozens of members of the U.S. House of Representatives have missed two-thirds of this session’s committee meetings, where much of the nuts-and-bolts work of Congress gets done.” “Committee meetings are often tedious, but they are where much of the real work of creating and refining legislation takes place,” explained Congressman Pittenger.  “As your Representative in Washington, I am focused on serving you and putting in the hours necessary to produce legislation which helps grow the economy, create jobs, and reduce unnecessary red tape.” Congressman Pittenger is a Member of the House Committee on Financial Services and serves on the Financial Institutions and Consumer Credit Subcommittee, as well as the Monetary Policy and Trade Subcommittee.  Congressman Pittenger also serves as Chairman of the Congressional Task Force on Terrorism and Unconventional Warfare, and was appointed by Speaker John Boehner to serve on the Congressional-Executive Commission on China, which monitors human rights.
