Now that a Democrat Senator from a state that would benefit from Keystone faces a tough runoff election, Senator Reid is suddenly very anxious to approve this legislation. “Our focus should be on easing the squeeze on hardworking American families by promoting good policy that leads to economic growth and good paying jobs, not on playing silly Washington political games. “Let’s hope President Obama has the good judgment not to thwart the will of the people and derail this common sense legislation through a presidential veto.” H.R. 5682 authorizes the construction, connection, operation, and maintenance of the Keystone XL pipeline, which would transport oil from Canadian oil fields to American refineries. H.R. 5682 was approved by a bipartisan vote of 252-161.
