http://richmond.house.gov/press-release/rep-richmond-demands-usps-data-supporting-new-orleans-mail-processing-activities-baton Rep. Richmond Demands USPS Data Supporting New Orleans Mail Processing Activities to Baton Rouge 2015-05-14 2015 2015-05 Democrat House LA Cedric Richmond R000588 richmond.house.gov     legacy Washington, DC In a letter sent to Postmaster General Megan Brennan Rep. Richmond (LA-02) expressed his disappointment in the United States Postal Service (USPS) for their failure to provide clear and coherent data justifying the decision to move processing activities at the New Orleans Processing & Distribution Center to the Baton Rouge facility. In addition to eliminating more than 800 middle-class jobs, this proposed consolidation would threaten thousands of small businesses and households that rely on the USPS for timely mail service: Given the profound impact that this decision will have on my constituents, it is unacceptable that, despite several requests from my office, the USPS has provided data that either fails to explain the financial advantage of consolidating these facilities, or is so heavily redacted it is impossible to interpret in any meaningful way. There are numerous cases in the report in which the USPS reports savings that are illogical, while redacting all data used to reach these numbers. In the letter, Rep. Richmond reiterated his concerns with the report justifying the consolidation, and requested that the USPS provide his office with specific data used to make the decision. In addition, Rep. Richmond requested assurances that the delayed mail delivery experienced in other communities with consolidations will not occur in New Orleans. The letter to Postmaster General Brennan can be found here. ### 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
