http://richmond.house.gov/press-release/rep-richmond-responds-house-passage-highway-and-transportation-funding-act-2014 Rep. Richmond Responds to House passage of the Highway and Transportation Funding Act of 2014 2014-07-16 2014 2014-07 Democrat House LA Cedric Richmond R000588 richmond.house.gov     legacy Washington DC -- Today, H.R. 5021 the Highway and Transportation Funding Act of 2014, a bill which would reauthorize federal-aid to highway and transit programs for eight months – through May 31, 2015 and replenish the Highway Trust Fund’s Highway and Mass Transit Accounts passed the House of Representatives by a vote of 367-55. “For decades, the United States has invested in its roads, bridges, and highways and in the process spurred job creation and commerce,” said Rep. Richmond (LA-02). “House Leadership has jeopardized that long-term investment in our nation’s infrastructure due to their fondness of last-minute fixes in lieu of responsible governance. Representing a city and state that relies so heavily on federal transportation funding this much needed stop gap is necessary to mitigate the imminent issue, but there is still a pressing need for a long term solution to transportation funding in this country.” The bill will transfer $10.8 billion from the General Fund of the Treasury and the Leaking Underground Storage Tank (LUST) Trust Fund in order to cover the costs of ongoing infrastructure projects during the busy summer construction season. 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
