Richmond Statement on the Release of the RESTORE Interim Final Rule | 2014-08-13 | 2014 | 2014-08 | Democrat | House | LA | Cedric Richmond | R000588 | richmond.house.gov | legacy | Washington DC – Today the United States Treasury Department announced the publication of an interim final rule in the Federal Register which sets out how Gulf Coast states and municipalities will receive funding for environmental restoration and economic development projects. "The effects of the oil disaster are still being felt today throughout the Gulf Coast, and especially in Louisiana,” said Rep. Richmond (LA-02). “Time is of the essence with regard to restoring our coast and making Louisiana whole again. This Interim Rule provides important guidance and a framework within which projects can be developed to aid in the recovery process. I will continue to work to ensure that funding is released in a timely and responsible manner and that there is a plan in place to allow resources to be utilized effectively in the region.” The Interim Final Rule (IFR) outlines grant programs for Louisiana, Alabama, Florida, Mississippi, and Texas that were established by the Resources and Ecosystem Sustainability, Tourist Opportunities, and Revived Economies of the Gulf Coast States (RESTORE) Act. The funds from these grants will help further the recovery of communities affected by the Deepwater Horizon oil disaster. ### | 1 | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z |
