| http://roby.house.gov/roby-news/told-her-premiums-will-double-alabama-woman-shares-her-healthcare-story-fox-news-program | Told her premiums will double, Alabama woman shares her healthcare story on Fox News program | 2013-11-12 | 2013 | 2013-11 | Republican | House | AL | Martha Roby | R000591 | roby.house.gov | legacy | A Dothan woman who would see the cost of her family's healthcare coverage more than double under the Affordable Car Act was a guest Friday on the Fox News program "On the Record with Greta Van Susteren." Allyson Strickland, a homeschooling mother of four, said she has been notified her health insurance premiums will increase from $440 a month to $920 a month for comparable coverage. Strickland, whose husband works in the construction industry, said the increase is more than her family can afford. "We're not really sure right now what we're going to do," Strickland said. "Our economic situation and our family's finances have been extremely tight over the past year and insurance was just not something I thought I would be concerned with but it's definitely become an issue for our family. "We're looking at different options but frankly, we don't have many options." Strickland was one of the first responders to a request by Rep. Martha Roby, R-Montgomery, who asked constituents to share their experiences related to the Affordable Care Act. Roby sought the responses on an online form, as well as through social media and email. Responses have been pouring in, Roby said. "Specific examples of how this law is harming people in a real way allow me to be a more powerful voice for positive change in Congress," Roby said.
