Todd Rokita’s Promote Accountability and Government Efficiency (PAGE) Act was praised in a recent editorial written by James Sherk, a research fellow of labor economics in the Center for Data Analysis at The Heritage Foundation. In his editorial, Mr. Sherk discusses the needs for changes to America’s Civil Service rules, and outlines the reforms in Rep. Rokita’s bill. “This bill makes all new federal hires at-will employees, while keeping in place all federal anti-discrimination laws,” said Sherk. “Such reforms are long overdue. Every workplace has a few bad apples. In the federal government they stick around, holding their agencies back. Americans can - and should - get more from their taxes.” The PAGE Act was introduced by Rep. Rokita on September 28, 2016, and would create at-will employment status for new federal employees, immediately suspend employees due to misconduct or poor performance, and ensure that taxpayers are only paying for official work activities.
