I look forward to working with my colleagues to bring common sense and fiscally responsible methods for funding our nation’s transportation and infrastructure projects the right way. In Indiana, the Crossroads of America, we have practiced these approaches – and they work.” Washington, D.C. – Representative Todd Rokita (IN-4), has been selected to join the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure in the U.S. House of Representatives. Rokita begins his duties with his new committee assignment when the 114th United States Congress begins in January 2015. "I'm pleased to welcome my good friend from Indiana to the Transportation & Infrastructure Committee,” said Bill Shuster, Chairman of the Committee. “Representative Rokita is a proven and effective leader, and will bring a wealth of ideas and expertise to the table as we tackle some of our country’s greatest challenges. I know Todd is principled, yet pragmatic – both of which will benefit the Committee in the 114th Congress, as well as his constituents in Indiana." Rokita has also been re-selected to serve on the House Budget Committee and the Committee on Education and the Workforce, where he currently chairs the Subcommittee on Early Childhood, Elementary and Secondary Education. Rokita brings a depth of knowledge to tackling a U.S. transportation network that has increasingly fallen apart due to historic debt and bureaucratic interference. Recently, states have led the efforts to improve infrastructure through unique and innovative methods. “I entered Congress to address our staggering and irresponsible budget situation in order to leave a stronger America for our children and our grandchildren,” said Rokita. “We are now increasingly facing the same issue with our nation’s infrastructure – the threat of leaving our posterity with highways, bridges, and communities that are falling apart without the means to repair them.” Rokita joins the committee tasked with oversight over all modes of transportation, from aviation to trucks to railroads, as well as jurisdiction over water resources, the Coast Guard, and development of economically depressed areas.
