WHO: Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, Chairman of the Middle East and North Africa Subcommittee, and other Members of Congress WHAT: Debate and Consideration of S. 2142 – the Venezuela Defense of Human Rights and Civil Society Act of 2014 in the U.S. House of Representatives WHEN: Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at approximately 6pm (please stay tuned to C-SPAN up to an hour before the planned debate and consideration due to shifting schedules in the House) NOTE: Chairman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen is the author of H.R. 4587 – the Venezuelan Human Rights and Democracy Protection Act, which sanctions officials in the regime of Nicolas Maduro who are responsible for committing human rights violations. The bill passed the House of Representatives by unanimous consent on May 28, 2014. Senators Bob Menendez and Marco Rubio were the Senate authors of S. 2142, which passed on Monday, December 8, 2014.
