Their creativity, innovation, and skills were fully on display this year and it was difficult to pick a winner from all of these excellent submissions.” Miami, FL – U.S. Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (FL-27) has announced the winner and runners up of the Congressional App Challenge for her Congressional district. The App challenge, which promotes education in the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) fields, is designed to spur innovation and reward creativity among young men and women in South Florida and throughout the nation. The winners and runners-up are: · District winner: Vicki Rios, Simple Sig · Second place finisher: Kamya Rucker, Animal Protection · Third place finisher: Norlen Nunez, PTP (Periodic Table Program) · Honorable mentions: Christian Harrison, David Gutierrez, Jorge Pla, Roberto Diaz, and Gabriela Martinez The FL-27 winner and runners up were selected by an independent board of experts. Ms. Rios will have the opportunity to travel to Washington, DC, participate in an award ceremony, and present her app to Members of Congress as well as industry leaders. Statement by Rep.
