The project would restore and revitalize the areas where the LA River flows, from Burbank to Los Angeles to Glendale, and would benefit over one million people living in the area. The letter can be read here.I am pleased to join my congressional colleagues in urging the president to include funding for the LA River Ecosystem Restoration project in his fiscal year 2017 budget, said Congresswoman Roybal-Allard. Such funding is critical to our plan to revitalize the LA River. Including these funds in the presidents budget will send a strong message that the administration is committed to helping us realize our dream of a rich and vibrant LA River which will be enjoyed by Angelenos for decades to come. The Los Angeles River is becoming the beloved treasure we know it can be, said Congressman Becerra. We must continue moving forward on its restoration for the sake of guaranteeing Angelenos an outdoor space that they can enjoy with their families today and for generations to come. I urge President Obama to consider the LA River Restoration as part of his fiscal year 2017 budget request to Congress. A project to revitalize the LA River is now closer than ever. After years of strong advocacy by Los Angeles residents wanting more green space as a retreat from urban life, we are finally within striking distance, said Congressman Schiff.
