Since I became a Member of Congress nearly seven years ago, I have been anticipating the opportunity to amend the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), now known as No Child Left Behind, which has not been reauthorized since 2002. Now, both the House and the Senate have passed reauthorizations, and with bipartisan support the language of H.R. 851 could be incorporated in the House-Senate conference committee. The goal for the insular areas is a funding formula for the ESEA Title I-A grant for low-income students that is similar to that used for the 50 states. The Congressional Research Service estimates that, if enacted, my bill could increase federal funding for the Northern Marianas Public School System from this years $6.6 million to $14 million. # | 1 | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z |
