Notice went out on September 5 that PSS was receiving $371,147. The money will support 60 AmeriCorps service members, student tutors within PSS, all of whom will be eligible at the end of their term of service to receive the Segal Education Award to use towards college tuition. Today also marks the 20th anniversary of AmeriCorps itself. The program was reauthorized in 2009 in the Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act, of which I was an original cosponsor. The 2009 Act made the Northern Marianas eligible for Volunteers in Service to America (VISTA) and authorized us to participate in all of the programs of the Domestic Volunteer Service Act, including the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program, the Foster Grandparent Program, the Senior Companion Program, and Youth Build. | 1 | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z |
