Under the State Homeland Security Program, the CNMI was awarded $790,712 to support the implementation of homeland security strategies to prevent, protect against, respond to, and recover from acts of terrorism and other catastrophic events. At least 25 percent of this award will go towards law enforcement terrorism prevention activities. $863,367 in Emergency Management Performance Grants was also awarded to the CNMI for assistance in providing a system of emergency preparedness for the protection of life and property from hazards and to vest responsibility for emergency preparedness. The Commonwealth Ports Authority also received $195,096 in Port Security Grant Program funding for transportation infrastructure security activities.
