The proposed increase in training capabilities, which includes live-fire ranges on both islands and impacts air and sea space, as well, requires an environmental impact statement under provisions of the National Environmental Policy Act. The comment period opened in March of this year and ended in May. Public meetings were held on Tinian and Saipan in April.
