NOAA reports that 253,940 pounds of fish, valued at $581,404, were harvested commercially in the Northern Marianas in 2012. Of the U.S. territories, American Samoa had the highest commercial landings both in quantity – 9 million pounds – and in value – $9.7 million. Guam had the lowest reported catch: 200,000 pounds valued at $507,743. Not including the territories, U.S. commercial fishermen landed 9.6 billion pounds of seafood valued at $5.1 billion.
