Throughout this process it’s become abundantly clear that the public is overwhelmingly in support of enforceable protections to ensure an open internet. Unfortunately, as long as Congress continues to pass the buck to the FCC, net neutrality protections will continue to hang in the balance at the discretion of whichever party is in the White House and thus controlling the FCC. This is untenable. When I talk to my constituents about this issue they have certain expectations: fairness and competition in the marketplace; the ability to access the legal content of their choosing without being blocked, or experiencing interference or throttling from anyone; and they expect the internet to remain an open and accessible platform for all Americans. This is the basic foundation of net neutrality, and I believe these are all reasonable and fair expectations from consumers, small businesses, and entrepreneurs.
