Peters’ Bipartisan Bill to Rename Downtown Courthouse Signed Into Law WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, President Obama signed Congressman Scott Peters’ (CA-52) legislation to rename the Federal Courthouse and Judicial Center in Downtown San Diego into law. H.R. 1378 designates the Courthouse at 333 W. Broadway as the “James M. Carter and Judith N. Keep United States Courthouse” and the surrounding center as the “John Rhoades Federal Judicial Center.” “These judges served the public with distinction,” Rep. Peters said. “This designation will honor their career-long commitments to justice. I want to thank the local legal community for their multi-year work to move this effort forward. It also would not have been possible without the bipartisan support from Congresswoman Susan Davis and Congressman Darrell Issa over the past few months.” The legislation passed the House of Representatives on December 9 and the Senate earlier this week.
