| http://sewell.house.gov/media-center/press-releases/rep-sewell-votes-avert-government-shutdown | Rep. Sewell Votes to Avert a Government Shutdown | 2015-09-30 | 2015 | 2015-09 | Democrat | House | AL | Terri Sewell | S001185 | sewell.house.gov | legacy | Today, Congresswoman Terri Sewell voted for a Continuing Resolution that averts a government shutdown, and gives Congress additional time to work with President Obama on a comprehensive budget deal. Congress cannot continue to govern crisis-by-crisis. We narrowly averted a government shutdown with todays vote, and thats not a position where we should be. The American people should expect more from the leaders they elected to serve them. I voted in favor of a Continuing Resolution that maintains government funding through December 11, 2015. I am cautiously optimistic that Congress can come up with a long-term solution before the December deadline, and I urge my colleagues to put aside partisan politics in order to do whats best for our nation. ### | 1 | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z |
