Stivers f t # e Washington, December 18, 2019 The following statement may be attributed to Representative Steve Stivers (R-OH) regarding the impeachment of President Donald J. Trump: After studying the reports, I did not see conclusive evidence that the President has committed a crime, and this has not reached the high bar that I hold for impeachment. I believe that the power of impeachment should only be used in extreme cases, as it overturns the will of the people and further divides an already-divided nation. I trust the voters to make decisions through the electoral process, and there is an election in less than a year. For that reason, I did not vote in favor of the articles of impeachment.
