Following todays passage of long-term federal funding for surface transportation, Congresswoman Susan W. Brooks (R-IN) released the following statement: Indiana is the crossroads of America and our economic growth depends on our surface transportation systems to foster business, move goods, and create jobs. Everything we use, from building materials and household appliances to cars and fuel, is moved on our nations highways, roads, and train tracks. Maintaining, repairing, and building our nations infrastructure to keep these goods moving is fundamentally the role of government. This long-term funding bill responsibly provides the certainty and resources our state and local partners need to plan for construction and restoration projects for the more than 97,000 public roads and the nearly 19,000 bridges in Indiana that we rely on every day to get from place to place.
