Glenn GT Thompson (PA-05) today announced that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will accept applications for the Fiscal Year 2015 Assistance to Firefighter Grant (AFG) program, starting on Monday, Dec. 7, and ending on Friday, Jan. 15. The Assistance to Firefighter Grant program is vital to emergency response teams and will improve overall public safety, Thompson said. I encourage eligible applicants to begin the application process as soon as possible and use my office as a resource along the way. Since 2001, the AFG program has provided grants to first-responder organizations to obtain much-needed emergency response and personal protective equipment, firefighting and emergency vehicles, training, and other resources to improve emergency preparedness at the local level. As always, my staff is available to assist any emergency service organization in the 5th Congressional District interested in pursuing grant funding, Thompson added.
