The final bill presents a long overdue opportunity that will increase U.S. competitiveness in the global marketplace. This bill strengthens our trade laws by ensuring Customs and Border Protection officials have the tools they need to enforce our laws in a timely and transparent way. The measure will level the playing field for American manufacturers and hold accountable foreign competitors who try to circumvent our rules. This bill also contains a commitment to advancing a Miscellaneous Tariff Bill process. I am confident we can solve this issue in a way that is consistent with House rules. Providing relief to American manufacturers who import materials that have no domestic supply will allow them to remain competitive, and I intend to work on this issue until we find a solution. I appreciate the hard work of House Ways and Means Chairman Kevin Brady (R-TX), Senate Finance Chairman Orrin Hatch (R-UT), and the other members of this conference committee as we send this bill to the presidents desk.
