Small Business Saturday, the Saturday after Thanksgiving (November 28), is a day to show support for local businesses and recognize their impact on communities. Shopping small is a sure way to find unique, high quality items, and it's a great opportunity to show support for neighbors and strengthen the community. Small Business Saturday is a valuable tool to raise awareness about local businesses in the community and help encourage patronage all year long, said Tipton. The driving force behind healthy, vibrant and thriving local economies, small businesses create the vast majority of new jobs in this country and provide opportunities for millions of families to prosper and achieve the American Dream. Its critically important that Congress advances policies to empower these Main Street job creators. From working to reduce overly burdensome government regulation and bureaucratic red tape, to keeping tax rates low, that continues to be my focus. Tipton, the co-founder of the Congressional Small Business Caucus, is a co-sponsor of a resolution in the House that states: The House of Representatives supports the designation of a Small Business Saturday and supports efforts to encourage consumers to shop locally; and to increase awareness of the value of locally owned small businesses and the impact of locally owned small businesses on the economy of the United States.
