http://titus.house.gov//press-releases/titus-releases-statement-on-nevada-infrastructure-report Titus Releases Statement on Nevada Infrastructure Report 2014-12-17 2014 2014-12 Democrat House NV Dina Titus T000468 titus.house.gov     legacy December 17, 2014 Washington, D.C. - Today Congresswoman Dina Titus of Nevada’s First Congressional District and a member of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure released the following statement regarding the American Society of Civil Engineer’s 2014 Infrastructure Report Card for the State of Nevada. “It is no secret that Nevada and especially the Las Vegas Valley have experienced enormous growth over the last few decades. Since 2000, the Las Vegas metropolitan area has seen a 37% increase in population, putting strain on our area roadways and water infrastructure. Given the 40 million visitors who we welcome to our region every year, it is clear that we must concentrate on maintaining our current infrastructure and build to meet future needs. From our roads and bridges to our wastewater treatment systems and our schools, this report card illustrates a failure to keep pace with our rapid growth.  Between 2012 and 2013, three out of four metropolitan areas grew in population, and approximately 85% of Americans now live in cities. We must strengthen our federal, state, and local transportation and infrastructure programs to invest in smart growth projects that increase the safety and efficiency of our area roadways and transit systems, conserve and protect our environment, and increase job and economic opportunities. That is why I am championing policies that will ensure that our local leaders have more of a say over how our federal infrastructure dollars are being spent. I look forward to continuing my work on behalf of the people of Nevada next Congress and addressing the failures outlined in the ASCE report.”  The report can be found here. 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
