Im pleased to say on a number of issues we prevailed. We deliver a tax cut to the middle class while protecting important deductions like the Medical Expense Deduction, and we lower the tax burden on American businesses while eliminating incentives to move jobs overseas. This is a big win for middle class families and the economy, and I look forward to debate and consideration of the bill next week. We will get this done. Background: Upton was one of nine House lawmakers named to the House-Senate conference committee to iron out differences between the House and Senate tax bills. As chairman of the Subcommittee on Energy, Upton was primarily tasked with negotiating energy provisions related to the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR).
