That's why another "C" is particularly alarming. That's the grade the March of Dimes gave to Ohio last month in its annual report card measuring progress in eliminating preterm births. When compared to the rest of the nation, a "C" grade might even be generous. Amidst so much innovation and prosperity in our state lies a chilling statistic: Ohio has the third highest rate of infant mortality in the nation – and the highest rate of infant mortality among African-American babies.
